Photography is a skill I recently fell in love with. The ability to tell a story in pictures is one of the most rewarding things I've ever learned in journalism, and putting myself in the center of history (be it Women's Marches or future engineering labs) is the most exhilarating thing about telling a story. I try to have a certain style to my photographs where they tell stories in a very plain and simply manner, hence why I like single-subject images. I think photographs are the most effective ways to tell a story.
Photo stories
For some articles, we include photo stories to show a new dimension to the narrative being told. This was the photo compilation on the 2017 Senior Breakfast, which took place three days before we printed. While I didn't take the photos, I chose the ones that I felt represented the event best. This form of visual storytelling essentially aligns with editing a print piece, but in photos.
